A Multipurpose Ladder: Six Positions, One Ladder

A Multipurpose Ladder: Six Positions, One Ladder

Multipurpose ladders are one of the most versatile ladders on the market. With six possible positions, this ladder replaces numerous ladders on work trucks and in garages. Using a multipurpose ladder allows for fewer trips to the truck and a much more organized workspace, removing the clutter of multiple ladders. Once the job is done, the ladder can be easily folded back up and stored away.

Stepladder

The first position we will discuss is the stepladder position. This position is best for times when you need a self-supporting ladder. The stepladder position is useful for accessing high walls or ceilings in an open space. Other great uses include painting, maintenance, or cleaning. This position is the easiest to transition to as it only involves unlocking the hinges and opening both sides of the ladder to your desired height.

Straight Ladder

The next position of the multipurpose ladder is the straight ladder position. Use this position when you need to reach higher than the stepladder position will allow. Jobs this would be useful for include accessing high shelves, equipment, or a roof. This is another easy transition to get to as you unlock the hinges and open the ladder fully. The straight ladder use of the multipurpose is also great because you can extend and secure the center section to make the ladder reach even higher.

Wall Ladder

The wall position is another way the multipurpose can be set up. This position gets you closer to the work area by setting up closer to the wall than a traditional stepladder can get. Closer to your work means easier access for you. This position is useful when needing to access a high wall or ceiling for cleaning, maintenance, or repairs.

Stairway Ladder

Working on stairs is no longer a source of stress with the stairway position. This position makes working on stairs an easy task with the feet of the ladder placed on different steps, creating a level work surface to climb. This allows for accessing ceilings or high walls when needing to do maintenance, repairs, or other work within a stairwell. The stairway position is a useful one that not many other ladders have the capability to handle securely.

Twin Ladder

The twin position is another position for which multipurpose ladders are built. This position is useful when working with a partner on the same ladder. This ladder is designed to support a person on both sides. Use this position for things like installing something heavy or working on separate tasks in the same area. The twin position is handy when working in an area that does not have the space for two full-size ladders being set up beside each other.

Scaffold

The sixth possible position of the multipurpose ladder is the scaffold. This is best used when needing a stable platform to work across. Scaffolds allow access to a larger work area and allow for more motion moving along the scaffold. Most multipurpose ladders require a separate platform to be purchased, but the ladder itself is ready to go for the platform to be set on. The scaffold position is a perfect use of this ladder for jobs such as painting, building, or maintaining a large piece of equipment or work area.
